Pacifica Beauty

Pacifica Beauty

So I'm going to admit, I'm 100% fangirling over Pacifica. But it will not go unjustified. Let's see if they truly stand up to the standards of eco/social consciousness.... *epic music*

Product Review

I have tried a range of beauty products. Before I became really passionate about socially conscious products and chemical-free makeup, I was all over the board with the brands I would use - from the cheapest drug store mascara to expensive foundation. I eventually learned the importance of buying higher quality cosmetics that are paraben-free and all around less harsh on my skin. I've found some great brands that are all natural and cruelty-free. But when I came across Pacifica, I found a brand that not only uses great ingredients, but also has a strong social and environmental mission. Plus, it's in my price-range. So basically, a real winner.

So how well does it work? For all of you on dollar store brands, I can guarantee Pacifica is better. For those with a more refined sense, check the review below.

Concentrated Concealer &

Under Eye Brightener

Here are my thoughts on these products as a whole, purely from a product-centered point-of-view. If you want to know why I completely fell in love with the company, you'll have to check out the Behind the Product section. The products are great, but the company itself is gold.

The general rating scale:

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being how you feel after binge-watching TV instead of accomplishing things and 10 being how awesomely easy it is to binge-watch on Netflix, how would I rate the...

Feel: 8. They feel great on my skin. None of the products feel heavy or oily.

Design: 8. Most of the packages are the beautiful kind that you leave out on your bathroom counter because they are too pretty to hide. In general everything is highly functional.

Quality: 8. I am confident in the quality of these products, especially for the price. There are certainly a few downsides to some of the products, but overall I'm very happy with how everything works and lasts.

Eco-Consciousness: 8.5. This company goes above and beyond to limit their impact, from recycled and recyclable materials to zero waste factories to animal-friendly practices.

Social impact: 8. They manufacture in America, give back to their community and source any non-USA ingredients from Fair Trade suppliers. Overall this is a very conscientious company.

Overall: 8.1.

Behind the Product

Okay, now the part I'm really excited about :). This company touches on almost every component of global consciousness that I am really passionate about:

Recycled Materials: Their boxes are 100% recycled, post-consumer material. They work to make all their packaging recyclable. They work with partners that share their vision, so as to ensure that every piece of the product is truly eco and socially conscious.

Eco Distribution: They purchase carbon credits and work to optimize distribution as much as possible. By sourcing materials from their local community, they use less energy and reduce their carbon footprint.

Zero-Waste Factory: Zero-waste factories are on the rise. These are facilities that use everything involved in the production process. If there is any waste, they recycle it back into the process. No excess tons of material being dumped every day.

Animal Friendly: It's vegan, so no animal products are used in their cosmetics. And they are cruelty-free.

Made in the USA: They care about their local community (see more on this below) and they care about having full control over the production process. Being made in the USA also makes their distribution more responsible.

Local Community: They care about their local community, which is fantastic for such a large company. They work with local suppliers and manufacturers. They are invested in their community and the jobs they create and the tax revenues they generate.

Fair Trade: Anything not made in the US is made in safe working conditions.

Involvement in Local Organizations: Pacifica donates a portion of proceeds to clean water projects. They also support women's shelters in their local community. The "buy one, give one" model is being implemented by their newest lipstick line.

All Natural: They are committed to being paraben-free, sulfate-free and free from other potentially harmful ingredients. Instead, they rely on natural ingredients.

Commitment to a High Quality Product: And all of this is accomplished while creating a useful and effective product.

Now you see why I love this company?
